So here I am at my favorite Starbucks listening to my favorite playlist (Jewel is playing right now) with my favorite drink (caramel macchiato with coconut milk and no whip if you're wondering ;)) and I realized that I hadn't shared about my favorite type of session in a while. So here it is: the Daydream Session.
There's a song that I love called "Dream" by Pricilla Ahn that says:
"I was a little girl alone in my little world
Who dreamed of a little home for me
I played pretend between the trees
And fed my house guests bark and leaves
And laughed in my pretty bed of green
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing
I had a dream
Long walks in the dark through woods grown behind the park
I asked God who I'm supposed to be
The stars smiled down on me
God answered in silent reverie
I said a prayer and fell asleep."
This song speaks as to why I created Daydream Sessions.
While I didn't have a perfect childhood, I created my own little world of golden fairy chains and endless sunshine. I was obsessed with pink, and pretty clothes, and all the glitter I could get my hands on. I was chock-full of passion and I loved it. When I was 9, I made a goal that I was never going to lose my childhood magic. Every day for 16 years I wake up and hold onto that magic for dear life.
In 2013, I saw Shalonda of Chubby Cheek Photography's work and was completely inspired to do a shoot full of childhood magic. October 29th, 2015 was the date of my very first portrait shoot with two little girls whose every inch was packed with that magic I was looking for. They dressed up as fairies and blew bubbles and we giggled and giggled. It was one of the best nights of my life. From then on, I was 100% certain that I wanted to be a child photographer.
I did a couple more children's shoots, but focused on events since that was who was booking. I'm glad that I did those events, but I longed to create that child magic again, no matter if I had to pay people to let me do it.
I studied from some of the greats, Brittany Gidley and Patty K Photography being some of my favorites xxx, and worked to create my unique style and give my clients and their children something that they've never experienced or expected. Black and white imagery and child fashion photography are two things that have endlessly intrigued me, so I knew that I wanted to somehow incorporate those into my Daydream Sessions.
Miss Malorie's Butterfly Princess session was what finally encapsulated what I dreamed to create. It was everything I loved in a photo: black and white, 1920s and dance-inspired, delicate but strong and completely and absolutely magical. Malorie loved dressing like a butterfly princess, getting sparkly eyeshadow and twirling as much as she wanted. She was mesmerized when she was showered by a waterfall of delicate flower petals. I think if there was such a thing as a heaven only for little girls, she'd be there.
That's why Daydream Sessions are my favorite. That's why I long to create them for you.
I want to capture all those tiny details for you like your little one’s fluttering eyelashes, tiny fingers and toes that grow so fast and those little freckles that we all love. I want to give you the very best photography experience in all of North Texas, because I believe that you are worth it. Your child is worth it.
No matter if your little one is 2 or 9, I'd love to make them feel like a prince or princess for a day. We'll brainstorm and come up with a wonderful concept celebrating your child, choose the clothing (my personal favorite part since I have an in-studio wardrobe with over 50 items. I'm not ashamed to say I twirl-proof them myself ;)), get their hair and makeup done, and then have the best time of their life doing what they love most. They won't even notice that their picture is being taken!
Want a session of your little one that's different than any other you've ever seen? Daydream Sessions are it.
This is a great time to book a session with the new school year starting. It would make my day to hear from you and talk about your session. Just email me at Anne@AnneBertelsonPhotography.com or click that contact link. My fall spots are filling up quickly, but I'd love to squeeze you in.
Have the most wonderful day!
